Advantages

  • Gives you control over ingredients, variety and textures
  • Exposes baby to the taste and flavor of fresh food
  • Exposes baby to what the rest of the family eats, but in a pureed form
  • Can be cost effective

Disadvantages

  • It’s not as convenient as a pre-portioned jar/pouch of commercial food
  • It can take more time to prepare
  • It must be stored in the refrigerator or freezer, which loses quality over time
